Original SoupMan school lunch program expands; introduces SHAQ-backed products
NEW YORK, NY – August 21, 2012 Soupman, Inc. (OTCBB: SOUP) announced that it is extending its school lunch program that was successfully launched by Team Soup Hall of Famer, Reggie Jackson at the School Nutrition Association Conference last month in Denver.
The company is now offering its proprietary lower sodium, lower fat & great tasting Shaq-A-Roni ‘n Meatballs and Shaq ‘n Cheese to schools everywhere. These dishes feature the endorsement of Shaquille O’Neal, who is a SoupMan brand champion, equity partner and strong proponent of healthy eating and fitness for children. SHAQ will be featured in cafeteria promotions and other school marketing initiatives as part of the company’s 360, integrated school lunch program. No one can get kids to eat healthy the way Shaq can; it’s a personal passion of his.
In a time when the focus on childhood obesity and better, affordable nutrition at lunchtime is growing in intensity, the company’s dedicated school lunch offerings satisfy the three primary needs of those responsible for setting the menus at America’s schools: superior taste, affordability and appeal!
These products were developed by Chef Tim Gannon, the co-founder of Outback Steak, SoupMan partner and Culinary Director. Chef Gannon also developed other Original SoupMan products to meet the new USDA meal plan guidelines which are all vegetarian items including Curried chick peas, Red beans, White beans, Stewed pinto beans and Mexicali beans. Each dish has a unique flavor and nutritional value geared towards the taste and needs of children. These items were unveiled at SNA to great applause. “We needed to make these products taste great for the kids and have the proper nutritional value for the Mom’s”, stated Arnold Casale, Soupman Inc. CEO.
“We are overwhelmed by the response that our new school lunch program is receiving from districts around the country,” he added “They see us as solving some of their biggest challenges with delicious, entertaining and sensible meal solutions”
